update on a few things

update number one:
I know I never posted the winner of Friday’s contest. That’s because when I used the random.org random number generator it chose #4. Of course it chose #4. You want to know why? Because #4 was my sister’s comment. She’s always a lucky duck. That and I think the random number generator just wanted to make me look bad like I was stacking the contest.

I promise I wasn’t. If I could prove it I would.

Anyway, I considered picking another number and then sending a small prize to both and all that jazz, but I think I’ve just decided to save this great priize for my sister and if you guys think I’m an unfair cheater then so be it. Hate me.

So I’m going to be photographing my sister’s prize and posting about it this afternoon. Congrats Whitter!

update number two:
Safire got her Pay It Forward package from me and now has posted her new Pay It Forward Contest. Should you wish to enter you can jump on over to her blog and leave a comment. Have fun!

update number three:
The OB office that I was referred to down here at the beach couldn’t work me in for a sonogram yesterday so I am going today at 2:15. For all of you with inquiring minds, I’ll have a post up after that to let you know how it goes. Thanks for all of the concern and prayers. It really helps to know that people care.

let’s celebrate!

Gosh! I must talk a lot!

Well, I must write a lot at least.

I started keeping an online journal in October of 2006 and as I mentioned before, Wordpress tells me I now have over 1000 posts. I don’t know if I believe it or not, but each time I log in it tells me how many posts I’ve written and today it says something like 1009 so anyway, in my opinion that’s as good a reason as any to celebrate. And what better way to celebrate than to have a contest? I can’t think of one.

I love free stuff. Don’t you?

I’ve put together a fabulous prize pack that I will be giving away this weekend. It contains some pretty scrapbooky type thingys like paper, ribbons, and other embellishments plus a few free cards from my Etsy shop. If you want to win it leave a comment on this post telling me what kind of fun things you’re doing for the rest of the summer. I’ll choose a winner and make the announcement here on Friday morning.

tidbits of randomness from my brain

  • So wordpress tells me that I’ve reached 1000 posts. I don’t know if that’s accurate or not, but I’m thinking of having some sort of fun celebration nevertheless. Like a contest. Or something. Any ideas?
  • Countdown ’til the hubs joins me at the beach: 2 weeks
  • My sister is getting married in 3 1/2 months! Squeee!
  • Boy! Mia sure was in a bad mood last night on SYTYCD, wasn’t she? I hope tonight she’s a little nicer.
  • We’ve walked 6 out of 7 days for both weeks we’ve been here at the beach. I think that’s pretty darn good. Now we just need to increase our mileage.
  • Jonathan did in fact eat the cherry tomato. I stand corrected and I applaud you, honey.
  • Tomorrow is dress-like-a-cow-for-free-food-day at Chick-fi-a. I was thinking that if I painted extra large nipples on my belly bump it would look like a giant udder. Do you think that would count?

Pay It Forward Contest Update

Remember this? Well, the random number generator spit out #17 so Safire is my big winner.

I emailed her Friday to check on some of her likes and dislikes and then I finally got around to going to a few stores yesterday to put together a prize package. I will get in the mail to her today. In case you’re interested in the goods, below is a list and photo of what I’m sending her.

BTW, once she gets her package it will be her turn to hold a contest and send off a prize so you may want to periodically check her blog and play along. Just saying.

Oh and one more thing. Safire, I hope you enjoy it. Don’t read any more of this post if you want to be surprised! :)

Most of these gifts came from ideas that Safire mentioned in her email about her likes/dislikes.

  1. fruit snacks - she has 3 kids and says they eat a lot of fruit snacks
  2. caramel cashew trail mix - Safire said she likes chocolate but since it didn’t mail well, she’d settle for cashew trail mix
  3. 2009 16 month horses calendar
  4. puffy scrapbook stickers - who doesn’t like stickers
  5. babysitter magnetic notepad - with 3 children (including 3 month old twins I doubt Safire gets a sitter very much, but maybe this will help some day)
  6. “Just Resting My Eyes” door hanger listpad
  7. “What’s Cookin’?” magnetic shopping list and meal planner - I actually got a couple others of these for myself and for other gifts since I thought it looked like a pretty useful thing to have. I’m all the time trying to organize my shopping and meal planning and haven’t really found a concise system yet for remembering what I’ve planned to cook. Hopefully, Safire can use this too.
  8. mini flower fairy notecards - so cute! maybe her 3 year old daughter can play with these if she doesn’t like them
  9. sticky notes
  10. current issues of All You magazine, Family Circle magazine, and Taste of Home desserts - she mentioned liking cookbooks and I couldn’t find any reasonably priced ones so I picked up a few magazines that seemed to be full of yummy looking recipes

goodies for Safire

This was so much fun and in all I only spent around $20. I may actually do this again sometime. If you haven’t held your own Pay It Forward contest you may want to consider it. It’s a lot of fun to shop for a complete stranger and
